Ya I will! It's my first fly in hunt that doesn't involve me guiding. Contemplating buying a go pro for the trip. Any thoughts?

Would head south of gladys or NE of coldfish. Cartmel would be last choice.

Have fun!

Definitely buy the Go Pro. Won't regret It. Can't zoom with it but you can get some very creative shots and because it has a fisheye lens you can get a good perspective on depth and steepness.

You will have no problem finding Goat... They are everywhere! They Sheep will be in hiding come August 10th, so I would look everywhere. Most likely won't be in their usual spots by then.

It's the hardest hunted patch of ground in the park. As said my first choices would he south of Gladys or be of cold fish. Either way you're going to be laying down some boot leather.

How about bringing an inflatable to get across the lake? Would this open up a less hunted area?

Plenty of sheep around. Put some miles on your boots and you should be successful. Looks very sheepy right around Cartmel so I think a lot of people waste time staying at the lake waiting for one to come out of the woodwork, but there's just to much pressure to expect that.

Take the drainage towards Ram creek. Tough slog for a ways but it's worth it. Find the old trail and you'll do ok (south side of the creek to start). Never see much for sheep close to the lake.

Lots of guys rag on Coldfish lake because it looks far from sheep areas. It is far, but it's easy walking on good horse trails. Cartmel is just as far to get into sheep, and tough walking to boot. Always lots of grizz sign too so keep an eye out. Woke up one a.m. with the dogs barking & snarling in the tent, old boar came in for a sniff and left a pile of crap about 20 ft from the door when he ran off.
