Spring Black Bear Hunt

Hey everyone,

Got my spring bear a week an a half ago (on the 12th), I finally got some time to put together the bits of video from the hunt.
Not much of a story on this one. Got home from work around 6, wasnt sure if I should bother going on but I saw it was a full moon the next day and figured it would be a good night to head out. Got high up on a mountain I like to go to and saw a cinnamon bear in the slash down the road a bit. Got my stuff together and started walking down towards it, by the time I got there it was gone. I walked a bit further down the road and heard something digging around on the lower side of the road. Started doing some predator calls, it came in behind me but noticed it had a cub with her so I kept walking. A couple minutes down the road I see a nice boar up in the slash. The first shot with my .243 sent the bear rolling down the hill, but it needed another shot before it got across the road and down a steep hill. Bear weighed about 160lbs (my scale keeps turning off, it was 200lbs when I got it into the truck). The skull was 17 3/4 green.

Got another bear tag, hoping to find a nice big one before the end of the month!

Ya its an 01 tacoma, its been great so far. Gets between 19 and 24mpg so i can hunt way more than when i was in my old 96 5.7L chevy. I havent decided what to do with the trim yet, i dont know of anyone who touches bear meat in creston, the rest i cut into roasts and jerky.

Good video, enjoyed the steps of spotting it till it was in the truck and a nice bear! Are you making cuts from it or sausage?

I made as many roasts as i could, then got some jerky and the rest is just trim. I would like to make some smokies at some point, just gotta find someone who will take bear. Maybe this will motivate me to get my own smoke house going
