271 net would put the buck in the #7 spot. Heard about the buck several months ago. Good to know there are some giants like that still around.

Thats a great buck. Congrats to the hunter. Bucks like that don't come along everyday for hunters. Fact is they do exist and go about their lives every day/year dodging lions, wolves, habitat change, hunters etc. Once in a while they make a mistake or someone finds their hidey hole and they get smacked but quite a few of em die of old age. I have the utmost respect for these mountain monarchs!

Thats the buck allright! Rick Berreth stopped by my house this morn to check out my booner, he had the rack with him. I nearly fell over!!! What a pleasure to hold such a rack. He told me exactly where the buck was shot, buuuut I do respect the privacy thing, (I can be bribed) I will say that it wasnt very far from kamloops (within 1 hour). I asked rick if the hunter was a hrd core mulie nut, he said no, just a meat hunter! I took pics as well, he asked me not to post these pics until after the show in abby this weekend, but since kirby already posted them i suppose theres no harm in posting another!

There was a guy camped near 5 km on the Tum Tum that week with a huge bodied buck hanging. I doubt it was this buck though as it was skinned and the head was off. I'm thinking the 271 buck was taken up the Molmich. Interesting how news of big bucks travel pretty fast. I had actually heard of this buck only a day after the guys at the dump saw it. Going on hearsay, I really doubted the score. There was a thread on HS with a 240 buck from Chase posted. I thought maybe the guys had got a little carried away with the 'guess the score' but still one hell of a great buck. Then the 271 pic started floating around the emails and I started thinking maybe the loggers I talked to were right. I've later heard the 240 buck also came out of the Adams.

I saw that pic in Nov. Thats the second big buck that guy shot in Nov. He tried to enter that one in the chase big buck contest but already had one in the contest. I was told it was shot a lot closer to kamloops.

Will,
Don't worry, there are no big bucks like that in Kamloops. ;) Only saw the biggest typical of my life, 210 mainframe, almost within city limits. :)

Derek,
You don't think that buck can squeeze out 240? Hard to say from the angle of the pic. Definately a TOAD from Way Back.

If anyone knows the hunter's name, let me know. Muley Crazy Magazine would love to do an article on either of these bucks for their May 'Beyond Borders' issue.

8)I can get try and get the name, possibly more pics I think my grandpas buddy knows the guy!, yeh Dana I dont know much about scoring so I honestly can't say it wouldn't push a 240:lol:

dana
03-01-2007, 11:08 PM
Cool, that would be great. David Virostko, the editor of Muley Crazy, really wants to get more British Columbian bucks like these two into the issue. If you find out PM me and I'll pass the info on to David.

Blacktail Stalker,
Ever think that the pic was taken once he got home from hunting? LOL!

Will,
You are right about that. In my opinion, a buck like this can pretty much come out of most MU's in the Interior be it Region 3, 4, or 5.
