To sell a non restricted (rifle), no paperwork needs to be registered, but I would suggest giving the purchaser a receipt.

To sell a restricted, you have to call the firearms center in Miramichi, and give them all the information regarding the transfer, IE; gun model and serial number, Name and PAL number of the recipient, Etc. The CFC will give you a file number, which you give to the buyer. The buyer phones the CFC, and gives them the transfer number, as well as other particulars that they may want to know. Then you wait for the transfer to be completed (or bug them every other day like most people do). Once the transfer is completed, when you take the packed firearm to the Post Office, or to deliver the gun, you must phone the CFC and apply for an ATT to transport the firearm, since it is no longer yours and the provisions on your current ATT no longer apply.
