Where are the bears?

I spent the day from dawn to dusk looking for my 1st bear up Tulameen, I went everywhere! Didn't see a single bear. Found a few piles of bear poo, a day or two old, that all. Did see about 2 dozen deer and some fawns, along with an alarming number of adorable yellow bellied marmots, and a few Hares.

Just wondering if the weather had something to do with me not seeing any bears? it was not the best day out, and a storm was rolling in all day, but it broke here and there.

We've had hit days and miss. Days the last 10 times out, first 5 hunts saw bears every trip this is about 2 weeks ago and the highlight was a nice blonde bear down, the 3rd I saw of the day and no black colour bears, the day after that goot another one with a friend and then the last 5 hunts over the last week we have seen nothing, out all day tomorrow early am to dark in the only area we have seen sign, they are all over just need to be right place right time in a solid area

At the end of the season it gets tougher to find bears do to the amount of food available now.

There is that magic time during spring green up that concentrates the bears near the roads do to lack of food and if you miss it they are a lot more spread out. Hang just bellow snow level where the new shoots are and you will find more bears. The new shoots have a higher nutritional value.

Like was mentioned above it is also the rut so the boars are on the move

Everyone knows wolves won't target black bears.....only mature grizzlies and the Sasquatch.

I was in Tullameen last weekend and yes they were few and far between, saw only 6 in total, 1 was a sow with 2 cubs, then ran up on a Cinny but didn't get a shot off, then one crossed the road in front of me, I decided to follow him up the hill and had another Cinny run right up to me shot him at 4 ft! I hung around the poop as they were cursing up at last light and down in the mornings.
