Looking for recommendations for a fishing lodge anywhere on the BC coast. Want to do a boys getaway for salmon and hali.
Did a charter out of Ucluelet once and just want to step it up a notch and try the lodge route.
Rivers, Nootka, QCI????

suggestions?

Check out The Outpost at Winter Harbour, you won't be disappointed! You can drive there which means you aren't paying for flights and what not. K

North King Lodge hands down! I guided there for years. Nice protected waters, no other lodges close by, guided or non guided options, excellent salmon, Hali, and ling fishing. It's truly a fisherman's lodge, it's not for those who are looking to go on a fishing trip and get a spa treatment, but if you guys wanna fish hard and eat well it's a great choice.

pm me if you want more info.

Check out Rodgers at Nootka Sound. You can drive to Tahsis and get picked up by boat or fly straight in. The lodge is 10 mins by boat from fishing the wild west coast and it's less expensive than the big guys. The lodging and food are more like good home cooking and not five-star but you're there to fish anyway. Fishing is incredible and they've even added Tuna excursions 15-20 miles offshore when the weather cooperates.

You want lots of fish find someone out of Nootka/Esperanza/kyuquot. Stay away from Rodgers, it's cheap but their guides are lazy and place is run down from what my clients told me. Try Adrian at Reel Obsession Sportfishing out of Zebellos, he's only got a trip or two left open for the summer so better be quick. He has three offshore boats and he makes sure everyone loads up the coolers, best guide I know on the west coast. His accommodations/food are great as well from what I hear.

I've had great times and great fishing at west coast lodges. early in the season they are in whale channel, and then move down to milbank sound later in the season. i guess one of the benefits of having a floating lodge (1rst class lodge and boats and gear) is that you can follow the runs!

North King Lodge. Boats equipped with GPS, radio, downrigger and dependable rods and reels. Sheltered water, lots of spots to fish 5 minutes to 30 minutes from lodge. Excellent food and because your so close to the lodge you can go in and sit down to a hot lunch. Small lodge with limited number of guests, easy to mingle and meet other guests. Been to QCL and found it too big for my taste and didn't enjoy 40+ minute boat ride to fishing grounds in open rough water. Still it's a nicely run lodge and no complaints just not a fit for me.

Yah. I will second that. Nice place to fish. Sheltered waters. Chance at a huge fish.

Joes In Rivers .........

I did Joes salmon lodge also. The thing I liked, you get to run the boat ( 17' BW). You can use a guide ( for extra cash) or do it yourself!

I chartered WCVI for 10 years and many of my clients had fished the charlottes and said they were much more successful out of Esperanza, kyuquot, Nootka. You're chances at a 50# + chinook are way better in the Charlottes but you may only catch a couple springs a day. We have many 30 fish+ days out Esperanza, plus coho and good bottom fishing. Charlottes has better bottomfishing with bigger halibut but who cares you can't keep em anymore now. Chinooks' are where it's at and the reports from WCVI are the best in years with Tyees already hitting the scales, even allowed to keep 1chinook over 77cm and one under inside the surf line after July 15th. First time in 7 years or so. To miss a trip to WCVI this summer would be ludicrous IMO. Someone mentioned 'Serengeti charters', they put the fish on the dock for sure as well. I've never fished Hardy but I understand it's good. My money would still be with Reel Obsession.

Slam Bang lodge in Kyuquot is decent. Fishing is only 5 minutes from the lodge. Food was great and I would go back in a heartbeat. Owners son Scott and his wife Jen are running it and they are great people.

Ya for sure, forgot about Slam Bang! Now that it'll be open inside the surf line it's an excellent choice as well. Boats are a little small for offshore fishing but good halibut fishing from surf line out.

I believe they sold those older boats. The local guides they use have their own boats. Hali fishing was awesome.

Langara is good, but my first choice would be Hippa Island, fishing Freeman Rocks is amazing. I've never been to the lodges there so I can't say anything about them. (West Coast Resorts and Charlotte Queen)

Rivers Inlet has the biggest AND best fishing. Guides are for ninnys and you dont need them here/there.

Late July to mid August for the biggest springs on the planet.

mid August to mid september for "i give up thats enough" coho fishing. I am not pushing any one lodge... Just the area. (and that guides are for ninnys cause thats a given)
