May long weekend found my friend and I heading up to my place in the cariboo. Our plan was to spend the mornings catching fish and the afternoons hiking into my bear spot. So first day there we caught our limit by lunchtime and figured we might as well get out for a walk.
We made it up to a sweet wet clearcut that has very limited access unless you want to get out and hike. It didnt take long and we were seeing poop all along the trail. We ended up spotting a nice young boar at roughly 150yds but it was very hard to get a clear view of him as the ground has lots of small hills. We stalked up a bit closer and to our surprise he was working his way over to us as well. So now we are 50yds and he still has no idea we are even there. A quick easy shot with the 30-06 and it was all over. The rest of the weekend we just caught a bunch of fish and sat by the fire.
