Myself and my girlfriend headed out in region 3 today, intending to cruise some roads looking for a bear and eventually find a place to camp. Being the long weekend, our area was busy with campers and quads and trucks. But we had not even been gone from home an hour when we spotted a sow as she shooed two tiny cubs up a tree. About half an hour later we came around a corner and this guy was standing on the road. We watched him a bit and determined there were no cubs and it appeared to be a very decent boar. By this time he decided he was tired of us being there and walked directly away from us. He turned slightly to us and paused for a split second as he started to enter the bush on the side of the road. My girlfriend fired her 7mm-08 just as he went to step out of sight. I saw the bear hunch briefly as it took off. We went to where he entered the bush and could hear him groaning and rolling around just inside the trees. Waited a minute and went to look, found him down and out 30 yards away. Perfect pass through of the lungs with a 139gn hornady sst. We drug him into the open and took a few pics. Very nice mature boar, a quick measurement put him right at 6 feet. We are both very happy with this bear, as we were just looking to put some meat in the freezer. Looking forward to some fine burgers, sausages, and maybe smoked hams! Looks like I will be trying to fill my tag next weekend!

Very nice bear and some good pics with memories. Congrats to the lady and yourself. Maybe a tanned bear on the bed will seal the deal

Nice bear, only seen a little bit of sign around loops lately 3-19, and 3-27, couple sightings, little bit of evidence, care to elaborate on a closest mountain? Lake? Region 3 is quite large, and yes great photos

Nice bear, best burger in wild meat IMHO. grind 8% beef fat in with lean bear!

yea i agree its the best burger. usually mix in a small amount of pork fat, just to add a bit of moisture. we have found we prefer the bear over deer and use it in just about every meal.
