I got my spring bear yesterday. I will call this one my birthday bear as it was only 1 day off. My bear season started last week when I went up to my bear spot Wednesday. It was still a little early, just starting to turn green with little new growth yet.( the area I bear hunt is around 4000+ feet ) Found one small set of tracks and one pile of scat, so it was showing signs of activity starting. But needed another week or two.

Went back up yesterday and got there around 3:30 pm thats right pm. I never waist my whole day up there lol This places produces in the mid - late afternoon and I was still thinking it might be to early and wasn't to eager to get up there. Unloaded the quad slowly cruised the pipeline to the area I saw sign in a week before. This time there was bear scat every 10 - 15 yards. That got me excited. Cruised down a bit further and over the next hill and there was a big black ball in the middle of the green grass. He was 345 yards away according to my range finder. So off I went to close the gap. There was little cover for the first 150 yards as it was thick blow down along the pipeline and I'm sure he would have heard me. So I just crouched down and walked closer when he wasn't looking. Then the bush opened up and I snuck in. Got to the edge of the bush and the clearing and ranged him a 48 yards and set up for him to turn broad side. A couple minutes later one 200gr TSX through the shoulders did the job. It just hammered him. He hit the ground jumped up and rolled I put one more in him for insurance because there was a deep ravine where he was rolling to. But he was done. I didn't measure him but I would guess he was about 5'6" nose to tail
