So I got a handful of pictures of this guy last year, all on the same day, after that day not another picture of him at all. Heard from lots of people that deer are pattern animals and can hang in a certain area. (I could be wrong quite easily)
anyways question is... Why did I never see him again? Seen does, seen other smaller bucks but not this guy, seeing these pics on there really got my juices flowing... But then gone...

Thanks in advance for any advice or knowledge...

All kinds of reasons... mortality, other buck pressures, quest for better feed etc. Maybe he just didn't like the camera or you in his space? Its hard to say. The can move around quite a bit too. Feed those does, try and keep them around. When the rut hits he may show up? Then call me!!

You were close.

I just clicked on your link to photobucket.
Then on the right side beside the picture I clicked in the IMG box that starts with URL=http......
It turns yellow and says copied.

Then in your post just hit ctrl or command v

Don't need to use the insert image thing.
It won't show the picture till you hit post, that's what always used to get me

Hope that helps, try it

My opinion for what it is worth.
You caught him at the fringe of his area. You are close to his core area but your off by a bit. If there are any draws that lead up or down from your cam check them out. Check maps and goggle earth and you may see where he is at.

A not so well kept secret is P.G. has some nice whitetails if you can find them. They seem very urbanized?

There are lots of reasons why this WT deer did not come back your guesses are as good as mine..

Many reasons could be the answer

They do change there habits depending on the season as well. The fact the pics are velvet he could have changed do to available food. Changes in pressure definitely change things as well human or predators.

If he is still alive odds are he is within 5 miles from the pic location

I found with one of my trail cams I would have nice deer in velvet always coming into the cam. Then about 2-3 weeks before Sept 1 they vanish. They moved to another area of their core. I found a spot they frequent in the spring/summer months then they move to another chunk come this time. Not saying this is whats happening to you but it is what I have noticed to be happening.

I have had this happen numerous times with big whitetails. See them a few times on pictures in the summer and come close to fall they disappear. I think it may have to do with feed then human pressure. Come fall they may be feeding elsewhere which could be brought on by human pressure I guess.

He might also be taking a trail that's only 100m away on a more regular basis. Heard of bucks doing this.

this is good advice. Just need to move the cameras around and you'll look him down. Amazing what a couple hundred yards can do when it comes to wt.

Ask, " Do whitetails migrate like mule deer? " This is a hard question to answer, and the deer can't tell you.
So "Who, who, can tell us?" asked the wise old owl?

I have had bucks on my cams one year then gone for a year, and back for a third, sadly in my case not all 4 or 5 year old bucks have big horns

Ive been chasing the same bugger for 4 years now , I get a couple pics each year in actually hunting season . When they get big they get smart he will make a mistake yet . put cameras in different area you figure his home range is he might have moved slightly since u moved into area . Think like a deer what would u do

He dint come back because the pretty doe he was dating found another buck who had more going for him.
So he left with his tail between his legs. Simple happens all the time but this was his first heart break and he couldn't handle it, so he left. Besides the does new boy friend was going to kick his butt and he knew it.
