I don't hunt bears...what other option is there other than gutting? Just curious.

Skin the bear and remove the whole quarters and straps and such or just cut the meat off the bone and leave a skeleton with a gutsack attached. This is a skill mountain hunters use so that you carry the least amount of weight possible. The meat actually separates in separate muscle groups without hardly cutting into any meat. I hunt black bears but haven't shot one in close to 20 years. I would let my young sons shoot them but I was always a bit disgusted by bear meat. Its a mental thing as I have cooked bear and deer steaks on the same BBQ and couldn't tell the difference. Bear guts make me sick to my stomach. Again its a mental thing.

This is what makes me sick about these forms !! Folks like you on here Bragging about your so called bush hogs ?? Some ass talking about pics with blood and guts is cool . That is what I call a want to be hunter ! A total embarrassment to a true outdoorsman / hunter . This is what gives the true meaning of huntng a bad rap Knobs LIKE these guys bragging about shit like this !!! You ***s don't think haters of hunting don't follow this. I'm all about bear hunting , But remember WE are HUNTERS not KILLERS and really the whole story is about the hunt and adventure NOT UR BLOOD AND GUTS PIC!!!

Pretty successful trip. Looking at the pics makes me think you're on the coast as opposed to the Interior. Am I right?

If your going to hunt, gotta have respect for the animals, especially since you are taking theyre life. They are not bush pigs, swamp donkeys or whatever. Glad you had a good hunt, nice work.

good job out there im all for the good trophie pictures just so i can get a good look at the animal but i also like the true field pics and i dont know why anyone would complain about them unless they have never hunted before or just take there animals strait to the butcher. haha also who cares what you call them a name is just a name not disrespectful in the least

Just read the entire post. I am all for hunting and killing. " we are all descendants of successful hunters " I also like the pictures and can see these guys are doing a good job of caring for the animal. The first time I called a moose a swamp donkey my elder hunter lectured me about about respect for the animal I had just killed, a moose. Never forgot it.

Okay dude, I'm really finding it hard to remain calm after reading your post. Unacceptable, name calling, swearing, unintelligent comments on killing vs hunting? In order to eat a bear, moose, elk, deer, one must kill it first. One must then field dress the animal and prepare it for consumption. This may and will entail the sight of blood and entrails, there is no other way! If you, or anyone is "put off" by these activities, you should refrain from viewing a hunting "forum". Your comments do nothing for the post, and should be refrained from voicing if not intelligent and constructive! You do not have to like what you see, you do not have to like what you read, and if you find it offensive, report it to the appropriate authorities that manage this site. In this case though, I think you will be the penalized member, as nothing you voiced in your post was intelligent or constructive. If you do get banned, you can thank me, as I am the one who reported your abuse to a fellow HBC member!

Cordially yours, Moosinaround

We recently made the switch to non-gutting meat removal, works great. All our bear meat goes into sausage anyway so hogging it off works fine.

Grew up on a farm, the process there was the same, kill the animal, skin the animal, gut the animal. Funny thing, the slaughter house that supplies the meat to the grocery store does it the same way.

Have to agree, hunting forum, likely to see hunting pics on here, who da thunk it.

Great story thanks for sharing.
