My season is about to begin. This year Peter has taken the focus off his hunting agenda (mostly) and decided to focus on me having a successful/full season.

We are starting out with heading out for a spring bear journey this May long weekend. A trip we have discussed with a dear friend who has "his" secret spots and who has been watching some bigguns in the areas for me. We are hoping that this is my year for a bear....had some very great chances last year and even had one "down" if I had of pulled the trigger but made the decision to "not fire and let him go to grow". Hopefully karma will be on my side this weekend for that one.

I'll keep y'all posted as the season moves along.

Good one, I bet you can cook bear too. If you cooked the bear meat it would be good but no roasts.
Only thin chops and bacon thin slices almost crispy.
Jelly No roast bear -- good luck, I'll have to call you Ali Beary now.

well I am bearless but I do now know what the saying "bear stump" stands for. We were in a very beautiful area of northern BC which made my trip one of the best weekends in my life. I saw things that I have never seen before and learned so much, especially about myself

Sounds like a successful trip to me. Still lots of time left in the season to cut a tag

After cleaning all our gear from our trip, Peter discovered my scope was wrecked. It is all fogged up inside. I figured that's the end of my season before it really begins. He laughed when I said I'd shoot using open sights. Guess that was a funny idea.

thanks to a couple friends I am back in business as I was offered a few scopes to use for the season. I really didn't want to have to use Peter's .270, it's bigger and heavier than mine and last time I shot it my shoulder ended up on my back.

heading out on a day trip this weekend, weather permitting to sight in scope and hope for yogi

TRIP #2

It is happening.... Heading out very very early in the morning to try again for Yogi. Although my friend Rob Gander gave me 2 scopes to try and my friend Chris from California has Fed X'd a scope to me, we don't really have the time to sight me in. I know Peter has faith I can shoot his .270, he says if I am really unsure I can shoot his Browning 300WSM X-bolt which is much lighter. So I'm feeling good .... hope to have pics for you of me and a bear tomorrow

good hunting Ali, take the heavy 270 win girl! As it is heavier, the recoil felt will be less. Those 300WSM kick like mules!! Easier to pack, but harder on the ole wing when the primer is set off! Minimoosin and I are tagged out for the spring, any time you wanna come north, you are welcome! We are seeing lots of nice bears right now! Straight shootin, straight shooter! The moosins
