No idea on the fishing conditions, but be sure to access the lake via Lumby, not the Mabel Lk Rd from Enderby, in case you weren't aware of the washout and road closures at Cooke Creek. It is open there every couple hours for ten minutes, but best avoided unless absolutely necessary.

Sounds good. Also done well with quick fish there. And my good old standby a deep red weddingband behind a gang troll.

I'd try a red devil or a Len Thompson.

fishing from shore with the old proven method, hook and worm was working. Lots of fish have already been caught its actually slowing down from the shore now.The water is starting to get dirty in some areas, last week a few creeks running in were still clear while others on the far side were dirty. Having said that, Our club, the vernon fish and game, and the lumby district wildlife club will bethere this\saturday May 10th to host the Fishing Forever day. Good Luck

Is that a major derby or a smaller one day thing? There is notice on the government website that the trinity loop of the camp ground is under construction. Don't know if I'll get my favorite spot by the playground for the kids.

Fishing Forever is where local clubs organize a day and invite people with disabilities to enjoy a day outdoors. The clubs supply all the rods, bait and food for the day.check out BCWF and look up fishing forever. The more people involved the better :)

Ya the fishing sucked. No one I talked to was catching. All I got was a pike minnow a 8" rainbow and snagged a sucker that was hooked on someone else's line and had broken free. Must have swam past my set line and got tangled in it. Beautiful camping area though and the service upgrades they are doing are great.

I thought you were talking about Terry Lake's wife when I read the header, "How is mabel lake doing. (http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?106862-How-is-mabel-lake-doing) ".

Set lines are only allowed in region 6 Skeena and part of region 7 Omineca. I'm pretty sure that Mara is included in the Shuswap "special" fishery. It might be good to check your regulations and save a bunch of $$

Should have been more clear.. Set lines as in rod and reel off the beach with line weighted to the bottom with a hook in floating just above. Shore fishing. Set the rods in a holder on the beach and drink beer while you wait for the tip to jiggle.

Ahhh! That's a real relaxer. Makes more sense from a sportsman! Tight lines!
