I will be heading to Northern BC for and elk/moose hunt this fall, and am thinking of going through Alberta to save time (I'm in the Kootenays- going through Alberta saves about 3 or 4 hours travel time to Fort Nelson). If successful, will I need an export permit(s) to transport animals through Alberta and back into BC?? We will be in Alberta less than 24 hours. Thanks!

Only if the animal requires compulsory inspection than you are supposed to have it done before you cross into Alberta.

Yeah, I've done that with sheep in Pouce Coupe before crossing into Alberta, but I've since heard that export permits are required as well??

Page 22 answers your ???s

There are concerns about CWD transfer , with new regulations. Should be no problem with your license and tags.

Export permits are required for any wild animal crossing the border. It's a bit of a hassle getting them so I'd hate to be sitting in Fort Nelson with my pelts and on the phone with some government official in Victoria. Cost is $30.00 and the particular instance I was involved in, I had to send them pictures of the pelts as well. My situation is a little different in that I was sending them to a taxidermist in Edmonton and wasn't travelling with the pelts.
