View Full Version : Ducks in my pool!

For the last few years starting around April 1 I get the same two ducks returning to frolic in and around my pool!! Now I know this is a hunting website and besides the obvious answers of using my nice new .22 cal air rifle with scope (very accurate up to 50rds:twisted:) to dispose of these pests who crap in and around my pool and clog my filter with feathers does anyone have any idea on how to keep them away for good? It's a female and male mallard that return each year and nest there eggs nearby and use my yard as a resort. I have tried netting the pool, large objects floating in water etc.... Nothing scares these things other than tossing ice cubes at them until they fly away only to return the next day!! Any ideas? Cheers

is it true that ducks don't like owls? maybe they consider them unsafe friends? you could get a few plastic owls and arrange them around your pool and yard.

Possibly. There's an owl that frequently dive bombs my decoys in the field I duck hunt in.

Off the record, if it's the same 2 every year, my vote would go to a final solution....

LOL. I've been in the pool business for 25 years. My old company used to have a customer in West Van who would regularly call the emergency pager number on the weekends to get someone to clean the duck poo out of her pool because she was having a party.

Squirrels love nuts too, but when I hit 'em in the ass with a filbert shot outta my slingshot they get the hell off my bird feeders.

How about installing a pool cover. One of the bubble covers with a roller.
