Archers, get yourself over there Sunday. What an terrific setup and the weather to make it even better. Mark and Steve, you've outdone yourselves!

I second that. I got lucky enough in my timing on showing up to walk the course with Stephane. Him and Kian (sp?) were a pleasure to shoot with. My wife and I only did the first 20 targets, as we had our 2 year old along and by the time we finished out first 20, he was overdue for his nap. But he was a trooper and had a great time, as did Kat and I.

If you have a bow and have never tried one of these, please do. Generally people are more than welcoming and easy going. (So Far. We all know there are "Range Nazi's" out there who feel VERY important doling out rules and reprimands, but haven't had the pain of being grouped with any of them yet.) Each target is a little secluded, so you don't have a huge audience if you don't feel competent. The trails were great. The weather as well.

See? Look how happy we are!!! You could be too.

Greybark,

Were you the guy conversing in French with Stephane? If so I'm gonna have to smack that guy next time I see him for not introducing me. He speaks very highly of you.

Hey Redthorn , yes and I have a childs bow and three arrows for your son . It may be a couple of inches long but should work and it wont be long for a good fit .
One slight problem is that it`s not like Dads but like them other ones , you know one of them other ones !!!!!!
Cheers

PS: I can shorten the bow .

Hi Greybark,

That is amazing. I can see why you are such a booster to the sport. We greatly appreciate that. Maybe just PM me and we can meet up and Nate can try it.

As far as single string bows, here is a picture of me at 3 with a stick and baler twine and some sort of weird archery form.

That's where I started, and eventually moved onto hazel staves that I carved down and shaped, with hazel shafts fletched with the finest barn pigeon plumage. Shot and lost a lot of arrows. Broke some windows and killed very few pigeons. Eventually got some a surplus fiberglass bow. The archery bug stayed....

That is me and my brothers 4 years later.

(Same brothers from last fall's post http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?102134-Fraser-Valley-3-Bows-3-Brothers-And-3-Blacktails&highlight=brothers )

We were playing with bows then, and still are today. Amazingly enough, Dad never hunted and as far as we know, never picked up a bow.

I should stop speak highly of people if all I get is some smacking!

But things being what they are, it was a great shoot, and it is always nice to bump into great people.

As for new archers, well, Kiyoon won first place for Male Trad. 13-15, a girl who did her very first outdoor shoot got 3rd in her category. So, next one is in White Rock early next month. Get yourself ready and bring the kids.
