Thinking about doing some sturgeon fishing in May [its the only time i can find this year to go and really want to get it off the bucket list] and was going to go to Lillooet.

Was wondering from the pros down there if the fraser is even fishable in May or would the run off and debre be not worth it. This is our first time fishing for sturgeon so any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

before the freshet is better, the river will be raging so harder to fish but the mission bend should be good, Ulichon are the spring bait I use. I have tagged some big fish in Late april so assume May would still be producing

Are you fishing from a boat or shore?

i'm not a fraser river regular but i heard from an acquaintance that they were hauling in tons of sturgeon a couple weeks ago. Not sure if that lasts through May.

Should be ok. June is usually the month for the freshet, with the third week often the peak. It depends on the weather. Not too warm and not much rain - the river will be good. If the weather is warm or hot, and there is some rain, the river will be up. May would be worthwhile planning for. Good luck.
