Hey everyone, just wanted to see how many people have seen blond black bears before. I got some video of some last year where I hunt near Creston. Let us know if you've seen bears like this! :-D

My friend has a rug of one, it came from region 2. I personally like the brown phase bears myself.

Last may I seen one as blonde as that cub but with a chocolate head and legs... I got within 30 yards of it... but it was only 4 feet long. Hopefully he'll be kicking around again this year.

About 5 years ago I watched a blond sow with red legs who had a blond cub and a cinnamon cub. That was in region 8.

But its not in the great bear rainforest, so that makes it not kermode? Thats what all the anti bear hunters seem to think. Is this legal to shoot? (if it wasnt a sow with cubs)

Princeton has some lighter color phase black bears, light brown to blueberrie black. the chocolate in my avtar is from the Ok. one of the coolest bears I have seen was around Quesnel, dark black with a blond strip down the center of the back, going to look for it this year.

These are some beautiful Bears, indubitably!

Whilst I have not yet personally witnessed a Black Bear as light as those depicted in the video, I certainly do hope to see such a Bear in the future. It would surely be very interesting to read stories from any of you about your sightings and Hunts...

Amphibious, here's a second to the motion of a telling of the tale of those four Bears! They surely must deserve a thread all their own Sir.

I've only ever seen one blonde BB.
Plenty of browns of various tone but only the one blonde.

I have seen a good number of blond BB but they have all been small.

I find that the amount of colour phase BB you see depends on the area you hunt

Not uncommon in the peace.

Saw a blonde boar with darker legs while we were skinning out a brown phase. There was a black sow with the brown boar and she took off at the shot. Then she showed up with the blonde boar 1/2 later.
He looked like a zoo polar bear with darker legs. I tried to get him but I wasn't quite quick enough. Many regrets.

I have seen two like that, but they were too small to shoot.

Seen a couple in the Chilcotin. One area in between Hanceville and Big Creek has them in there, never seen a big one though.

There has been a story around that many colour phase bears are sows and that they are young bears that loose the phase and revert to Black as they mature .
Wonder if this has ever been substantiated ?

Kinda like those blond girls you knew when you were young that you meet later on in life and discover that they're really Brunettes? ;)

Never happened to me. The mystery was always solved after a few dates.

Here is a small blonde one I shot in Alberta in May of 2012. I only kept it on the floor for pictures. He now hangs on the wall. I just need a brown one and a black one with a white chest patch and I'll have a complete collection.

Not sure if anyone has hunted around Telegraph Creek, but there are a fair share of blonde and cinnamon bears around there.
