Sorry for the delay but I debated for a while whether or not i wanted to post. Until I read Rubberdowns story and it made me realize why we are all on this site and why it is we hunt. The reason for putting ourselves through terrible weather, cold nights on mountains and many miles in our boots is the story. The stories we tell around the camp fires for many yrs to come
Heres mine

This year started in early September with a great friend of mine who over the past couple of years as been a big part of my success. Our "plan" was to put everything on our backs and head out further away from civilization in an area I have hunted a lot.
Day 1 we drove 6 hours then attempted to hike another 4 hours which was a terrible idea. Note to self, things do not look nearly as far as they are on google earth! So skip ahead to day 3 and so far not having very good luck in the new area so we had decided to hike back out and head to old faithful. Day 4 we wake up and head to my favorite spot. Hike up into the alpine in the dark and wait for sunrise. As the sun started to creep up we became aware we were surrounded by fog!! What friggin luck! Good photo opportunity though

So from this spot at this time we had no other option other then to glass away and above us. Just about to call it a morning, packing stuff up and i decide to take another quick look around
Me "Adam! Your f#@king spotting scope now!! Four deer way up there"
The scramble began to un pack the spotter before the deer went over the top. I got the spotter on them but was still so tough to tell. Adam jumps in to have a look and as they sky line he sees bone! We ultimately decide to go after them knowing one was a possible shooter

That is where they were
So at the time sounded like a great idea. After dropping weight and grabbing food at snack it was off again. This is where Adam has helped a ton. Pretty sure an hour into it i was done but i couldnt tell him since he was always 50 meters in front of me just plugging away. After what felt like forever we get to where we last saw them and hoping they hadn't gone to far. We catch our breath and decide to take a look over the edge to see if they were in the valley below. I went first and as soon as i popped over the edge 8 eyes staring at me 50 yards down. "Adam is he a 4!!?" At this point he had no idea where i was looking since he was behind me he couldnt see them yet. The 3 bucks and a fawn, yes a fawn with 3 bucks, which i have never seen before ran uphill away from us and stopped at 200 yards. As I lay prone and watch the bigger one turn broadside and flash his 4 points I am not paying attention to anything but him, including the wind which was just howling. In the background I hear Adam say "take him hes good"
BOOM. He doesnt move. Well now im talking to myself "you idiot! the wind!" BOOM he stumbles and takes a few steps downhill and stops. I reload but cant take him out of his misery as the fawn had stepped in front of him and the 3 pt he was with was now trying to mount him and assert his dominance. A few moments go by and i get to finish him.
