Hey Guys,

Thought I'd share this cool critter I just finished. This is an Arizona javelina I just mounted for a buddy of mine. He shot it with his bow and it ranks pretty high in SCI book. These are artificial teeth as he kept the skull in tact and boiled it out.

My first attempt at any open mouth taxidermy and I think it turned out well. Pretty cool little critter to work on!!

Next up is a big Mountain caribou!

Mean looking little thing. What's the chance of seeing a skull picture? What would one weigh?

That looks very "lively" and natural. Great job.

So a wart hog should be no problem for you??

My buddy has the skull, I will see if I can get a pic. I'm not sure what they would weigh. I'm guessing from the size of the head maybe 40-50lbs?

Im slowly getting to the point in learning taxidermy that I feel confident with enough time and reference I can challenge myself to new pieces. I hadn't mounted an Aoudad and did my own and like trying something new. It's a good challenge for sure.

According to one taxidermist wart hogs are easy 'cause they're so ugly, wrinkly and baggy looking anyway.

Let me know if you're up for a new experience. I have one for a head mount and one for a half body. No hurry at all either.

Ya you bet, I'll touch base as I'm always looking for new experiences as a taxidermist.

Seems the hardest part I am having is controlling the amount of work I take in on my part-time schedule! Haha guess that's a good problem to have.

How long have ya been playing at this?
I tried my hand at it years ago, but I seriously lacked the patience - The shit is WAY to fussy for me.

I started learning about 3 years ago. I've been working on my own for about 2 years now in my garage. I've never considered myself 'artistic' but so far have caught on pretty well.

Should be done this spring/summer if all goes well. Trying to find the time to fit it in!! My stuff seems to get pushed aside in lieu of customer's work!
