I am getting a bit frusterated trying to find some hunting boots I like. I am looking for something quality that will last and is NOT made in china. Looking at the danner website they seem to have some good stuff but no retailers in the area. can anybody recommend a store that has quality full grain leather/vibram sole boots? not interested in rocky or irish setter type stuff
this is kinda what I am after, these are danner Canadians

The Georgia boots never fit my foot right. I looked a long time for a full grain boot with a toe rand and replaceable vibram soles that were less than $400. Not an easy task as many manufacturers no longer make such a model.
I bought these a couple of years ago and I am really pleased with them…I think they are the best value on the market. Granted there not as tall as the Danner Canadians but i have never felt that they were not enough boot. They are available at Vahalla pure in victoria and online as well. I usually wear 9.5 but got these in 10. Good luck.

I had a pair of Viberg boots like the Danners pictured. Wore them for years they worked well. Bit heavy in today's standards but held up well. Made in Victoria, at least than they were. I'd check them out if that is the style your after.

I see the link did not work as I thought it should. The boot is the North Face Verbera backpacker. retails for $260.

you want bulletproof, buy Vibergs! Westcoast loggers use them for a reason! Canadian made, right our little ole province. They do have a line of safety boots made in China though! Moosin

scarpas should fit the bill if they fit your feet.

wouldn't buy danners if you want something for heavy abuse.

Drive over the bridge and go to Valhalla Pure Outfitters in Abbotsford. Great staff and customer service. Look at the Hanwags.

Danners may fill the bill for that. I have had a couple pair of Danner Super Rainforest. Good enough quality, but I find they don't have as much ankle support as I would like when hiking steeper terrain. Decent boot for lowlands or lightly hilled terrain though.

Its been a long long time since I've been in there, but 3 Vets in Vancouver used to carry both Danner and Viberg boots.

I'll back Dirty up on the Hanwags. Great boot with really good support.

If you are wanting to look at the Danners, give Three Vets a call to see if they still carry them.

I was going to say the same. The Danners are comfy but not a mountain boot.

You try Dayton on Hastings street in Vancouver or go 3-4 doors up and the old Itlaian guy will make you a pair of custom boots: He makes (or used too) all the boots for the biker cops:
Or take the trip to Victoria and get some Vibergs: I still have mine from 20 years ago

Viberg makes an awesome boot but if you are planning on hiking up and down mountains, I would recommend something lighter. I began elk hunting on a budget so I used my $540 viberg linemans... 2 years of that and I evolved into purchasing a proper pair of hinting boots. Settled on the meindle alaskans and I was damn near near running up mountains. Had I known earlier that it was like taking off a pair of 8lb ankle weights I never would have hiked in the vibergs in the first place lol.
Try a few different brands on because they all fit differently. For me, the meindles are great but a friend of mine can't stand them. All my buddys with Danners love them and I may try them on my next pair....

3Vets in Vancouver sells Danners, I've had a pair from there for just about a decades worth of heavy almost daily use that are just now at the end of their life. A few blocks up AJ brooks deals in Meindls and as was said before Dayton on Hastings... local handcrafted boot with excellent quality (probably the best quality you can get in the LML) http://www.daytonboots.com/

Yup…. Hanwag boots. German made.

Euro boot companies have been getting it right for far longer than any of the domestics .

Valhalla Pure Abbotsford carries the Alaska GTX model. Not quite as tall as you desire… but taller than your "average" hiking boot.

Viberg in Victoria. They will make boots custom fit to your feet and offer every style imaginable. The quality is as good as any available and better than most. It is a Canadian owned and operated business and doesn't get much more local. You don't have to travel there to get the custom fit however order early as the wait time is long.

Great boots!!! Love the button tread very good grip on almost any surface.
I'm on my second pair of Danner Canadians, first pair lasted 15+ years worth of hunting. I will be sending the old ones in for new soles and liners as the leather is still good.
