Dunno about that? Sounds neat though

I know the whiter the belly the more $ the hide is worth (obviously depending on other conditions too)

The hide is thick and clean from snow my dad said it could be I hybrid coyote slash wolf idk if thas possible and I havent seen any wolves around redlake only clinton and 100 mile
Dont know if bonaparte has any wolves but I got couple friends that trap there and they saw couple timber wolves with nice coats so I guess its a coyote the thing only weigh 50 to 60 pounds has wolfs way 80 and up

It is a young wolf that you shot.

Get is mounted or at least tan the hide. An all black coyote would be quite a trophy in my books

There is black 100% coyotes but I have never heard of one in BC. Most black coyotes seem to come from the US.

There are wolves in that area

I would also be interested in seeing a pic

Yes dark grey ones have been found in region 2

Looking back at the weight he posted it would be a huge coyote or a young wolf. For the area the OP mentioned I am thinking it maybe a young wolf

That said weird colour coyotes exist so it is not impossible

! pic and it would be clear what it is though

Just like Albino's, Melanism (black Phase) is found in all species, coyotes are no different. I have handled several black coyotes over the years some much blacker than shown here. They have basically no commercial value...not enough to make a lot at the fur auction....though unusual they are not totally rare. Mount it yourself or take to your taxidermist.

I watched this the other day:http://www.cbc.ca/natureofthings/episodes/meet-the-coywolf

That photo really looks like a Coywolf. Larger than a typical Coyote and the head looks wider, with smaller ears.
