Dart and tackle facilitates these from time to time.

Thanks for the link Adriaticum. Had a look through the site and it looks pretty solid. Has anyone taken a course through Silvercore before? Are they done well?

Ridgedale Rod and Gun Club. Last I checked you sign up at Canadian tire in abbotsford. I'd give them a call.

consider challenging the course and save yourself a couple hundred bucks. I borrowed the book from a friend, gave it about 5 hours of study, reading aloud and taking notes. passed the test 97%. Only costs 10$. If you fail you can take it again the next day for another 10$. technically you could take it 20 times and still save money... lol.

I took the SilverCore CORE course this January. My only complaint was that I wish it was longer than a weekend course. Based on reading the CORE manual, I felt that a weekend was barely adequate to cover all the bases, plus I enjoyed it quite a bit and just wished we could have gone into more detail.

Don't get me wrong though, they prepare you well to take the exam, which they also administer. In hindsight, I may have been able to challenge & pass just by studying the manual, but the course enabled me to pass with confidence and gives practical experience in using the hunting and trapping synopsis. I feel it was time and money well spent.

As Iron Glove said, they are top-notch people who will happily answer questions on breaks and after each class.

Ridgedale Rod and Gun in Abby, a real course, not just a challenge. They have been teaching for over 40 years. I took mine with them 34 years ago.

Thanks everyone. I am going to look into the Ridgedale club. It seems to be what I am after, a full course with lots of learning.
