Hello,
Could someone tell me if there is firewood around the South Kahan Lake on the Kawdy/Stikine plateau? This lake is about 10 miles north of Metah Mountain. A group of us are thinking about going in there this fall and taking a wall tent and air-tight wood stove. Would really like to know if have to fly in wood or just go with propane if no local wood. If anyone has been there or knows I would really appreciate some heads up.
Thanks-Chinabar

Haven't been there but looking at the photo on Google Earth of the Kilgour lakes area to the east, that valley bottom could only be covered in willows. Looks like there "could" be timber growing above the valley bottom.

A diesel heater might be a safer bet.

was in there in 08 there is wood but it is hard to find dry stuff. There is cabin at the end of the lake that people can use that has a stove and wood, with a note that just asks to replace the wood that you burn.

At the end of winter watch for canadian tire to sell out thier presto logs and buy a couple cases then suppliment with whatever you find around camp.
Been doing it for years, works great and doesn't take up as much room in the plane !

not much wood by the time you get enough you have probably worked up a sweat and don't need any.
