Today was a Pro D Day at school so I figured what better of a way to spend it than goose hunting. We have been watching this field of about 200 geese for the week and just waiting for the day to come. Rise at 530 and head off to the field with our neighbour and my buddy,Reese, who both love water-fowling. Got the dekes setup by 615 and had the layouts brushed in by 645. First flock came in around 710 but we only managed to drop 1. The next 30-40 minutes went by very slowly and boring until... The heavens opened. We had flock after flock after flock of 5-15 geese coming into the spread. the dog didn't have time to retrieve and we barely had time to reload before the next group was within range. We were lucky enough to shoot at a couple flocks twice due to them circling back(probably not my calling). We ended the day with a pair that came in textbook perfect (and a couple missed shots)
Overall, the final tally was 16. my new personal best which blew my five of heritage days out of the water:grin:
Big thanks to Doug (my neighbour) for being the supervisor and bringing his lab, Sitka. He loves retrieving and even helped pack the birds out at the end of the day:mrgreen:

No field pictures so just a nice tailgate shot.

Wow that is an awsome way to spend a morning. I have had very little luck with the geese lately. Do you think you had good success because the geese were habituated to feeding in that particular field. Do you think they will ever come back to that field now? Again good job. What kind of shells were you using?
