Hey there,

Looking to purchase an aluminum skiff (12+ feet), with a small motor I can troll with, something like a 9.9.. Yamaha or something would be nice but I'm not going to be too picky. I want something I can drop crab traps with, take out for duck, and also hit some nice lakes for fishing with. Doesn't have to be fancy, just float, run, and not break the bank. A trailer is an obvious necessity as well.

I've looked on Craigslist but I can't see much there. Does anyone know any other resources I can exhaust, or places I can go to? Anyone selling? would like to buy a used one.

Any and all help would be appreciated... Thank you!

Keep checking Craigslist I would think people will start posting again in the next month or so. Ive got an old 11 footer ill be posting soon but no trailer. You'll probably find your best deals purchasing everything thing together (Boat, Motor, Trailer).

I have a nice welded 12' with a trailer and 30 hp johnson and elec trolling motor , but I'm keeping it. lol The old owners of my new house had a friend storing a 12' boat and trail here. They left in Nov and the guy was supposed to pick up the boat in early Dec. He came here twice and forgot the keys once and then didn't have the right wiring the last time and I haven't seen him since The first weekend of Dec. I'm not sure what he laws are about getting rid of his stuff or if just thinks its free witer storage at my place (wrong). So I may have a twelve foot aluminum for sale in the near future.

Where are you located and whats your budget?

Like hunting time said a package will be your best bet. Also if you're doing crab traps freeboard and width will be your friends, the more of each the safer especially in a 12 footer.

good points.
I know I've been in a 10' and it was tippy as hell.
could be sketchy pulling anything a bit heavier over the sides.
I'd rig up off the bow maybe.

Look at marlon boats they are very wide and stable, makes it easy to shoot out of, stand up fly fish, pull traps etc. they are bright so running a coat of paint over it in a prefered color would be advised if your going to use as a duck boat
