My 6yr old is havin a blast at these 3D shoots, today on his second round he scored a 129 with 5 superkills and made a few comments of wanting to start shooting the further adult targets... We went to the practice area and even using the bottom pin he's not shooting enough weight to make the distance of 90% of the targets. Should I slowly start cranking up the weight and make the transition to the further targets sooner than later or keep encouraging successes at the cub levels?

Who are these cub disances for? Is a 6yr old shooting a compund with release even suppose to be shooting the cub level?

If the tadpole wants, let him.
He will be humbled at some point and this is a key factor in success.

My opinion...

If he can handle more weight start cranking dad, he's ready..

Make sure he's ready. Its great to be improving but can turn quickly for him if it leads to frustration.

I would slowly increase the weight a little and have him shoot as his regular target to make sure he's ready. Adding extra weight and distance at the same time might lead to frustration. All depends on the individual.
