Back from Slovakia...

My wife and I are back from Slovakia, and this time I did harvest a nice mouflon ram. The horns were measured at 88 cm which qualifies it as a Gold Medal trophy in Europe.

The hunt was more like a whitetail hunt than a sheep hunt. Deep snow and bitter cold had driven the sheep from the mountains to lower hills covered in vast oak forests.
We hunted from elevated blinds overlooking openings in the forest where the sheep would come out to feed. They came in groups, and the hardest part was to pick out the biggest ram and then shoot it without hitting another animal. I was accompanied by my outfitter and a game warden during the hunting. It was bitterly cold, damp, and windy, and I actually came down with a case of hypothermia.

The rifle was a .300 Win. Mag. supplied by the outfitter. All my international hunts are a combination of hunting and tourism. My wife accompanies me on all these trips.
