Was wondering if there's a decent stone sheep population between the halfway river and sikanni river? and if theres been any taken in the last few years? or know of anybody has taken a decent ram up that way.......thinkin about a trip into the headwaters of either place.

Was up past Crying Girl last summer on a radio job, didn't see much sign of anything.

Get in touch with the regional Biologist. They will have that info you need.

Traditionally the halfway and sikanni watersheds have produced some outstanding rams, but the overall populations have always been low. Lots better places to find a ram, unless you are just looking for a cranker. Even then you are drawing to long odds. Both areas have low non resident quota's and that is a good indication of overall sheep numbers.

thanks for all info, maybe i'll travel a little further north where i know there is a little more to choose from. was just checking if it was worth going in those areas. Regardless, anywhere in the mountains is worth the trip. Good hunts this season

I use to guide up there. The outfitter had a quota of 3 rams/year. He was lucky to get 1, but some really big rams have been taken over the decades. I personally wouldn't hunt Stones there.
