I was running the camera and the caller, cousin wacey and our good buddy jesse were the gunners. 204 and 220 swift in action. 8.1 seconds and 4 down. pretty sweet footage I must say. Click the link below for video.

Why are coyotes hunted? This obviously is a well know answer to most.....just not me.
I gather they are a deer predator, but what else are they guilty of? Is there any use for them after the hunt? edible? fur?
Just curious.

Just curious.

They prey on the fawns shortly after birth, before they are able to run etc. They get into the farms and kill off the lambs, calves, chickens or whatever they can kill. A couple of coyotes, if not taken out, can turn a profitable year for a farmer into a year of wasted effort.

As far as the fur goes, it can be sold. They use it for clothing, hats, gloves, etc or at least they used to use them for that.

They are responsible for the extreme decline in Ringneck Pheasants, Red Fox, Cotton Tail Rabbit, Blacktail Deer, your neighbors Cats and dogs, throughout the lower mainland, never mind the decline of Deer, and several other games species through out the province.

Big Boar says they are not bad to eat either.

Hammer away. Great shooting guys. Want some company ??

The main reason ANY legal hunting is even allowed in BC, is for conservation purposes.
For many, this is a mind-bender but it is the truth.
