I don't know if this will work. Copying and pasting... not strong points ! See if you can access this story in the Cranbrook Daily Townsman by way of this link ;
http://www.dailytownsman.com/breaking news/236393541.html#.UrlWlVRClRyA.gmail Really makes one wonder if the Protectionist element in our society has succeeded in getting many to swallow the BIG LIE.:confused:

Well, that didn't work either. Maybe if one of the members who is more savvy with computers would volunteer, I would send them the article and they could post it. It is very interesting.

The latest numbers from the dna study shows 130 bears from highway 3 to waterton on the east slopes. I think the 1200 estimate maybe low.

that study is not up to date, it says 51 for south west alberta, that was the number from the bias study, the latest DNA count 1 yr ago showed over 100 griz in the area

122 to be accurate, so if there wrong with alberta, they're probably wrong with the numbers in bc and Montana http://esrd.alberta.ca/fish-wildlife/wildlife-management/bear-management/grizzly-bear-research/southwest-alberta-grizzly-monitoring.aspx

Interesting that the writer mentions bears moving onto new untraditional range. My neighbour came across a large G-bear this past fall along the Rayfield river east of 70 Mile, and I watched one for several minutes on top the marble range just north of Clinton in September. Not exactly where you would expect to see G-bears.

Judging by the number of sows with 2 or 3 cubs I saw last fall, this number is going to jump again. There are grizzly bears living east of magrath on the milk river ridge as well, several if the reports are correct. With the problems seen last spring, and the number of cattle killed, could be an interesting time around april/may. Add in there that the two fish and wildlife positions in pincher creek are vacant, and one short in the crowsnest pass as well as cardtson, it will be a test of ranchers patience, which is already thin. I predict backhoes maybe in demand south of here this spring.
