Hey fellows.

With sheep hunting plans in full swing (like they ever stop) I'm looking to pull the trigger on a new Backpack alpine tent. I've done lots of reading and talked to some guys and have narrowed it to these two choices. Any thoughts on the sawtooth? Would be roomier for 2 guys and the wood stove is a bonus for drying gear. (As long as a guy can find enough wood to burn up there).

I was told this by some lifelong sheep hunters....accept that you'll be spending days hunkered to get out of the weather in your shelter choice..... In reference to some folks choice for only a tarp.....

Very best,

Ian

Hey. We actually took both on our last hunt. Set up the kifaru a little lower in the shintang and used the hilleberg as a fly camp. The nice thing about a small dome is your body heat and jetboil keep it fairly warm. Because if there is no wood the tipi is cold. Nice thing about a tipi is the space.

Spent 10 days in a Nammatj 2 GT last fall for my sheep hunt at the end of September, the vestibule makes a world of difference. It wasnt my tent so I'm ordering a Nallo 2 GT that will be my go to tent for everything from 30 above to 30 below.

For the weight and shear room for those days you get pinned down, the Nallo2 GT is tough to beat. If you don't want/need the huge vestibule, it tucks neatly back and gives you a covered porch.
