View Full Version : A whitefish fly pattern for the person requesting

Someone asked for a picture of my favorite whitefish fly pattern. Well here it is. Doesnt last through to many fish as it gets chewed up fast but it is wicked and really gets down in the zone fast. I tied a couple up tonight and took a picture of one

Yes I use egg patterns all the time, especially when the salmon are passing through

do you have any good helgramite patterns to share..we use the live ones we find undr rocks along the shore in the spring ..we clean house on the white fish with them using a spinning road and a small splitshot .

I've never actually targeted whitefish. Usually hook a few while nymphing for trout. Are you keeping them to eat or just catch and release? When I was a kid we used to get them smoked and they were amazing.

Most of the time I am catch and release...unless I break out the smoker lol....trout I release thought but I do like eating whitefish
