I have 2 older compounds one of which I would like to turn into a recurve by slapping some limbs on. I am wondering if anyone has done this and also which riser I should use. I have an old Bear black bear and a Jennings black lightning.

I have been reading and researching like a psycho on this and I have discovered that samick sage limbs may actually bolt right in without adapter plates. If I want ILF limbs I need to purchase or fan up some plates. I will post up measurements and pics when I start this project.

Ok I am going to leave the black lightning alone. I have started on the black bear and torn it down to a bare riser. It is an aluminum riser 16" from limb bolt to limb bolt making it a 21" riser. I have found a set of plates from a member on archery talk for $35 so now I am on the lookout for some ILF limbs on the cheap.

Because of a lack of time and funds, I am just going to get a set of Sammick Sage limbs. If I remove the limb bolt bushing from the limbs they bolt right on. I have found limbs at a place in Calgary for $75.

With not a lot of time lately all I have been able to do is strip the blackbear down... I did have some free time today so I tried my hand at a wrist sling for it.

I broke down and went and bought a samick sage from wholesale for 140 bucks. Robbed all the parts off of it and for my project. There was too much play in the pockets but the pockets from the sage that are held on with 2 littls screws looked like they might fit.... Hmmm perfect snug fit.... Had to grind the corners off a bit so the limb bolt hole would line up properly. Used some weather stripping under the sage limb pocket to keep things quiet and snug and this is what I came up with :D

Did some shooting yesterday... This thing is sweet. The 40# sage limbs feel a little heavier than they did on the sage. So with just the weather rest, no sight and shooting fingers with some very overspined arrows... This was my first 6 arrow group at 20 yards

I am in no way a professional nor do I know much about tuning but I have been told I have very good form and look like I know what I'm doing. So I tinkered a bit with limb bolts adjusting tiller. And did this with my second group.

So then I decided to put the sight, quiver, cable guard(mounted forward as a makeshift stabilizer) and the sling I made up on the bow... Had a mongoose single caliper laying around, so without sighting in and just slapping the sight on, I came up with this at 20 yards :D
