Hey guys and girls, I have already bought one, just waiting for it to arrive. I have read quite a few reviews already and they all seem great. I am wondering if anyone has first hand experience, and knows of things I should watch out for. Do they still work good in really cold weather? How's the battery life...etc. It's 3-9x40 and it's going on a sako av in 375 h&h.

Thanks,

Mine is the Fire dot reticle, I have used one for the past 2 years, not one issue with it. Still on the same battery. Love how the dot brightness can be controlled. Even if the battery goes in the field it can be used like a normal scope.

Uhgg ... leupold on heavy recoil ... had nothing but problems myself. Im no Vx R expert they are new and could be better for that application. Ive been off the Leupold band wagon for awhile now. Im having a full custom Rem titanium built right now on a McMillan edge in 300wsm ... I bought this exact model

Not like you cheeped out , those VXR's look nice , I just had such bad all around experience with that company they make me cringe

It has a muzzle brake so recoil shouldn't be too bad.

I wrecked a VXIII on an AV 375hh.

Had it in a leadsled hooked on the front of the bench and a sandbag laid over the scope to hold it down.
Recoil had nowhere to go...

First shot and the lens fogged up. Blew a seal I guess, lost it's Nitrogen

been using a 2-7x33 VxR Firedot Duplex on my 375 Ruger for a few years, works great

Ya, Korth had it back to me within 2 weeks.

Just wanted to share my experience so others don't "clamp" their set up down too much also.

Rifleman series have been tough for me, never had a problem. Had 2 that I used on my beater guns that took a lot of skidoo abuse.

Have the same scope with Ballistic Firedot on a 338 RCM. It has also been great.

I have Leupolds on most of my my heavy recoiling rifles/big bores and have yet to have to send one back. Not sure where the recent criticism comes from?

Might just be me, but lobbing a 20.5 ounce NightFarce on a light weight rig is akin to putting lead foot beds in a pair of Nike Air's.....No beef with NF, as they make top notch stuff, but they're not the best fit for every application.

Pass the 12.5 ounce VX3 3.5-10x40 and frost it with 4.5 inches of eye relief and big eye box for all things mountain hunting.

Apparently you didn't have a gunsmith living in the basement of your childhood home, like Chopper........:-D

I'm stoked for it honestly I have never read so many positive reviews for one particular product in my life! Seriously I have read maybe 2 or 3 half ass negative reviews and they werent even bad, usually it's like 70%\30% but the vx-r is like 97% positive reviews! Plus with the 375 h&h and the 3x9 with ballistic firedot, I can use it in tight bush all the way out to 400 yards easy!! What a rig this will be!!

Ive been running Loopys on 375's and 416's for years never an issue,,guess it goes to show that any brand can break. Just bought a new VX3 3.5-10 x 40 with CDS for my lastest 375, seems nice

Guess not. I have put Leupy scopes through some EXTREME "testing" though. :)

Had a lowly Vari-II, with the "dreaded" friction dials take a dive off a quad at 40km/hr years ago. Tapped the gravel out of the objective, wiped the ground paint off the now bare aluminum and took a poke at 100 yards to see how "bad" things were. About shit my pants when I hit dead center, 2" high.

Figured that was about as much "recoil" as a scope would ever see.........:-D
