i am looking for some ideas for a lake that has preferably pike and or walleye but not totally limited to these species where a couple of families in travel trailers can camp at lake shore. I have been to Charlie Lake and it is ok but you cant camp right on the lake.
I have family that will come from Calgary and I live in Quesnel so we are hopefully looking for a spot that would be about an equal distance for both families.
I like the Dawson Creek/Alberta area but the Okanogan area would work as well.we are not interested in the real big lakes but we would like to hear of any suggestions you might have.
Thanks

You can find bass in the okanagan, I personally don't find them very tasty thought, I found them to be a grainy fish.

Cameron Lake just south of Hudson towards Chet has all that you're looking for.

some good pike in there.
not much of a nice place to holiday though.

a better location would be around the jasper/banff area.
kinda central for you both.
moose lake has really had my eye for a fishing trip.

more important is what time of the year are you planning this to be?

The Columbia river has a good run of wallet in August. We have done good in the castlegar area just below the arrow lakes dam not sure where to camp around there but is a nice area in the summer.

Cool! Ever get any big bucks? :-D

I've always wanted to try that area for walleye. Do you run a boat or fish from shore?

OP - not sure of the timing for your trip, but Oosoyoos Lake is expecting around 240,000 sockeye to return this summer. This is WAY more than the system needs for recruitment. It should provide an exceptional sport fishery. In addition there are trout and bass in the lake.

and sturgeon.
some very nice-sized walleye in there.
during the grasshopper time is awesome.

coach, a tin boat works well.
you can just cruise and catch.
a friend caught a 70 pound sturgeon with his lightweight walleye setup.

if you are that close, you may want to check out echo lake near lumby.
kinda between lumby and cherry.
there's some great rainbow and lakers in there and it's a relatively small lake.
it has camping areas as well as many awesome little cabins.
also for that time, you could just go up to mabel lake and get into some great Chinook salmon.
