Thought i would post up, my sons first black bear, from spring 2013..Hopefully more bear hunts this spring.

My son passed his hunting core this spring, so off to look for his first black bear.. We put lots of hours in this spring, but we did not see as many good bears as other years, lots of rain this spring. We did see bears , that he could have shot, but i taught him big ears means small bear, but decisions were left up to him. So as the season went on , i could tell he was wondering if he a had made the right decisions. Season was coming to a close a few more trips, and it was going b over till fall.. Well good luck came on our next trip, as he spotted a nice blackie in a logging block in the rain. We stocked into 125yards , he layed prone and put 300 grains into the front shoulder from my DE 338 EDGE (he thinks it is his gun also) So heres is Damians first black bear, and first big game animal on his own licence .I was one proud dadhttp://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq79/JEARL49/null_zps10d89b10.jpghttp://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq79/JEARL49/null_zps0a1b02fc.jpghttp://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq79/JEARL49/null_zps8faf9046.jpghttp://i435.photobucket.com/albums/qq79/JEARL49/56234d46e1a379cba48fad9fd0ad3073.jpg

Thx for the comments.. The 338 has a muzzle break, but still kicks abit, but he is accurate shooting it. Don't want to get into muzzle break debate, we wear earplugs..

Well Yama 49, you might as well pick out a new Rifle for yourself now! After your Son shot a Bear that big, with a Rifle that Big, I'd say the 338 should be his now, Ya??? Congrats to you both on a hunt you'll never forget!!!

Nice bruin! Hole in the bear looks to be the entrance? Seen an entrance hole like that on a whitey that was shot with a 338 edge from 465yrds!! Recoil is not too bad with the muzzle break and a good recoil pad! Good job guys!!! Moosin

Great job! Reminds me of when I took my son for his first Black Bear hunt / kill, didn't know he would shoot one bigger than I have done, that was in 1998, he was 15.
