This time of the year becomes a little slow with non-hunting related threads and political bull$hit, so I obtained permission from a friend to post a short story and picture of his NOW officially B.C. Book Whitetail.
My buddy Wayne is from the lower mainland, but no stranger to the Peace region.
He started his career hunting Black tail on the coast and believe it or not, he managed to put a Blacktail in the B.C. record books.
This would now be his second entry and this one for Whitetail.
Wayne was the first to introduce me to the Peace region and after years of witnessing his early Moose successes, I was thrilled for the opportunity.
That was years previous and I have had great success in the Peace as well.
Wayne would typically book 3 weeks to hunt mule deer and Whitetail in the Nov. season.
I have witnessed some absolute monsters harvested in his past, but last year his patience on Whitetail paid off with a Book Buck.
I think patience is a key word, as after hunting day in and day out in blistering storms, -21 c ,and deep snow, it becomes easy to settle on an average buck.
Last year, Waynes persistance and patience had him pass on many an opportunity for that one buck of a lifetime.
It would appear he must not of questioned his patience as this opportunity only presented itself on the final days of his hunt.
It was worth the wait.
This buck is now officially entered in the B.C. Book and scores as such:It went 166 1/8 non typical points
There was 11 x 11 scoreable points on each side not to mention the mass of the antlers
Happy Hunter
