Well this being my first serious go at water fowling I have learned a lot and it is finally starting to pay off.

i started the season with puddle jumping ducks out of a slue. The occasional duck was taken but most trips were a nice walk with the gun.

I then did lots of door knocking and finally found a good field with lots of birds. I sat in the ditch and watched the birds circle always just out of range. Not enough camo.

i then brought on a friend with money. Wich is a good friend indeed. He brought duck and goose decoys new calls and some robo ducks. The duck came closer but still would not commit.

time to build a blind. We made a frame out of abs pipe and coverd the top and sides with snow fence then covered the whole thing with grass from the ditch. Well it worked

and the blind we have found this has been the most important part total concealment is the only way the birds commit on a bright clear daday thanks to everyone in the marsh helping me out along the way

Now that's how to get it started. Good for you for getting a place to shoot and learning how to make it all come together.

The sooner you learn that us waterfowlers and bowhunters are just old guys who never grew out of building forts the more fun you will have....good hunting.

Hahaha that's exactly what my wife says " do you want me to pack some snacks for your friends when you go play in your fort. Don't forget your allergy medicine. "

Looks like you got it figured out, good job! There was a ton of geese yesterday just a couple fields over from there. K
