burris automatic rangefinder scope info.

How exactly do the 1980 or 1990 ish scopes work.the ones with the lines you move to match the body of deer to range.my dad has one.I'd love to know exactly how it works

If I recall correctly... if this is the burris that had the second cross hair under the duplex unlike the redfield accutrac that had two separate cross hairs.. I believe you turn the magnification dial until the deer fit between the the two crosshairs. You then shot the bottom cross hair. Disadvantage was you cannot increase the magnification to bring the intended target closer as this changes the holdover and there was no way to compensate for ballistic differences between cartridges.
There was no elevation adjustment on the top turret for the model I am referring to.
