Can anyone suggest a good outfitter. We will be a group of three looking to go in the Fort Nelson area. Trying to do it on a short budget, for a buddies 40th birthday. We want to do seven day hunt. Any ideas?
Thanks

Short budget and outfitter don't normally go together.

I know. We are trying to see what we can find to establish what our budget will be. If it is not too bad, two of us would like to cover the cost for our buddy for his birthday.

Moose, elk, etc. Not too fussy. Just want to go for a trip for the birthday.

Tetsa River will take you for about $4K per guy. Horses, wrangler, cook, camp, no guide.

Why not just charter a plane and get dropped on a lake and do it yourself.

Steamboat Mountain Outfitters are great for a non guided resident hunt for elk and moose even a fair possibility for a stone ram! If you want a guided hunt try Larry and Lori Warren at Tuchodi River Outfitters. I have been with both, and both were outstanding.

Outfitter/Guide and Packer are 2 totally different things with a HUGE price difference. There are Horse Back Packers, Fly in and Jet boat Packers. Check out Guide Outfitters Association of BC if your looking to be guided. If your looking for a Packer, there are a lot to choose from also.

Good luck

I can find alot of guides out there, but can't find anything about packers or outfitters. Is it best just to call the local hunting shop and ask if they have any suggestions?

A couple of points of clarification might give you a little help. Outfitters are licensed to guide resident and non resident hunters in specific areas.. Guides work for outfitters and actually accompany hunters. Packers are now called transporters and are licensed tp provide unguided assistance to resident hunters. Some outfitters also provide unguided assistance to reident hunters transporters usually charge less than outfitters. Pm me if you would like more details.

Sign up on GOABC website and get on the Hunt Finder list , maybe find a bargain.
You can search G/O's by the location too. Not a complete list as some are not members.
