Me and Val out for a stretch yesterday and Val found her first animal shed was a WT deer shed about 4 years old better then me I found nothing notice how dark it is ,, after I cleaning the antler the lower picture it is clean ready for the potassium..

I cleaned the shed up now if I want I could put a few coats of potassium permanganate on this antler to bring back the original color..

Yes it boils my blood as well there are just a few people out there that wreak it all for all of us meaning when we hunters go knock on a door and ask if we can hunt there farm land big percent of the farmers say no all because of what you have seen on my video clip I have been thinking about this cut fence and its bothering me so I will go to the farmer and tell them that I am a hunter as for a shed hunter and what I had found with the fence tell them that where the fence was cut this will go a long way for us hunters and I am sure he will pass it on to other farmers will give us a good name..

Out again yesterday was the 7th time out this new year I was in temperatures -10 put on about 7k in 6 hours found nothing new but did find a few older antlers

I was in snow depths up to 12 inches deep took a round out of this old boy on me yesterday I felt like a trooper one foot in front of the other plugging along looking
and thinking this is what you have to do in order to get where I want to be when the real drop off starts for finding elk antlers etc here are a few pictures and

ive pulled ticks off me hiking in three feet of snow in shaded areas and then briefly hit a patch of dirt on a south slope and got a tick. I think they come out fairly early

I live in Cranbrook and what I have found out over the 5 years shed hunting early spring that ticks like it warmth when its above the +5 temperature is when they are out and a person can find them on you..

Out yesterday picked a big mountain to head up to test my legs felt good and found one shed from last year its a mule shed looked around for an hour for the other side found nothing

Right on Wayne. Was out checking on a local elk herd here in the Okanagan on the weekend. Big boys have dropped but the smaller guys are still packing headgear. Most mulies have dropped as well.

Sucks that people are out there carrying side cutters with intent to damage property. If people are found in the cities and towns with screwdrivers, pry bars, bolt cutters etc they can be charged.

Out today put on 10 miles on my shed hunt things are just starting to heat up headed out again the rest of the week I just keep jumping around just might find my honey hole

I found one fresh 5 point WT shed over a 10 mile hike pictures shows the shed video clips I will post up latter when loaded up on you tube ,,just to let others know don't get upset when you don't find a shed when you are out there looking many times I put on many miles of leather to find nothing just keep trying be out there cover the miles you will find some sheds sooner or latter.

Yes I will return latter will give it 4 to six weeks and when I konw that most elk have dropped there antlers I will return to an area that I had found nothing earler months if I find nothing the secont time I will not return to this area again I make sure I look over the area for 20 hours to know that this area is not worth returning to ..

Out today for a 8hr shed hunt found a 5 point fresh elk shed the elk are dropping sooner this year then the past few years my guess is it was a snowier and colder winter then the past few years

I put on around 14k to find this fresh shed I looked for 4 hours for the other side no luck ,,not having a good year finding two together but I am happy I found this shed today have to have a break
I look after my grandson all day tomorrow this is more important then shed hunting videos from today and yesterdays shed hunt will be available tomorrow morning ..

I hung the elk shed up in a tree because I did not want to pack this elk shed around all day long will pick up the elk shed sometime next week..

My shed hunting partner holding his finds we where looking for the other side of the matching side of the elk antler
that I spotted by the old dirt road and Shaun found these matching side of WT sheds 3 feet apart the sheds where
about 80 yards from the elk shed I found this is what you can call lucky..

My wife and I went out Thursday for about 5hrs and found 3 W.T. Sheds.
Also saw 4 W.T. Laying down with an elk cow. Weird!

Nice finds on the WT sheds my thoughts on why the WT deer hang around the elk is because the deer feel more comfortable against predators approaching them I have seen this many times over the past few years the elk and deer feeding along side of one and the other more eyes smell and hearing for defense against predators..

It's Monday and just got back home from a short 3 hr. Shed hunt ,only found 1 shed a 5 point elk from last year. Not chewed on. Nice day though.

Out today for 10 hours shed hunt walked around 20k had to have a stiff one or two to ease the pain headed back out tomorrow morning at dark hope to find more elk sheds
I found a matching set of fresh elk sheds today and a single 4 point fresh shed video and pictures will up on my thread tomorrow morning at 4am mountain time..

I found this 5 point elk shed where it laid below I looked for the other side for an hour did not find the other side I give up and moved on
About one hour latter 2K away believe it or not over ridges and heavy treed areas here and there I walked straight into the other side..

Not realizing that I had the other side in my hand for the last 2 hours this was SHL never in my dreams would I have ever thought
I would find the other matching side after giving up and moving on my thoughts is the big guy from up above had to have guided me to
this other side because I walked right into the matching said ,,,guess this is a reward to me for going to church last Sunday..

You can see that the one antler base has more blood on it then the other side the one with less blood on it was the first one I found.. Me holding my matching set back at my quad..

I found this broken off top from a 6 point elk that was fighting with another bull elk as you can see it was the top of the antler and probably was a six point was a cool find. Below are My finds from yesterday

finding the second elk shed for the other side was what you call luck can't believe I found the matching side in the
timber 3hr latter was like trying to find a needle in a hay stack..

I walked 10 feet from this elk 6 point elk shed 4 days ago don't know how I missed it ???? the shed has been off for about a month.

Out on Monday May 05 for a 10 hr solo shed hunt found a couple dandy elk sheds got wet to the bone put on around 16k for the finds
Pictures starting from one to 14 are in the order I found them the video clips show how my shed hunt unfolded..

This 6 point elk shed was 15 feet from the big old six point that has moss on it the big six point
scored 155 all my finds where within a kilometer..

Believe it or not this 5 point elk shed is a year old the black timber and no rodents within the area kept this shed the way you see it
its the biggest 5 point shed I have found to date.

Had to leave 4 of the elk sheds up where I found them I hug them up in a tree I will get them on Fridays shed hunt
will return to come the area for that other matching side of the big 5 point and that big 6 point shed here are my
finds from Mondays shed hunt I am recuperating for this Fridays all day shed hunt..

Headed out on a solo shed hunt tomorrow for an all day shed hunt it says it is to rain all day long ??
I will try to find the matching sides to them two big sheds I found on Monday ???? did a way point
where I found them I will take rain gear tomorrow so I won't get so wet..

Out yesterday on an all day solo shed hunt got good and wet was raining all day log tried finding the matching sides to them
two big elk sheds no luck I left around 10 elk sheds hung up in the trees they where chewed more then the ones I kept..

I got turned around in the timber good thing I had my compass and a way point when you concentrating on looking for
sheds its very easy to get turned around and not keep track where you are when you in black timber..

I went back into the same area and was rewarded with more finds I only put a small dent into this area finding elk sheds in the
timber here are my finds from yesterdays outing full video clip will be up on my thread latter today when all clips have been uploaded
on You-Tube..

Take note all shed hunters all the elk sheds from this past Monday and yesterdays finds are all from in the black timber
I go in there and get lost that's why I find these sheds LOL..

This is the way they lay on the ground in the black timber its the fourth time in my short shed hunting carrier that I have found a matching set this close together.

To get to the honey hole I found for elk sheds its up hill 3k to get to where this place is I am tired out from yesterdays outing resting up for the next two days headed back into
this place first light Monday morning..

To get to this elk shed honey hole I found its up hill 2.5k I will go back to this area next week Monday early am after I have rested for a few days I am tired and need to
recuperate for a few days ..
Maybe I will have a dry day on Monday will be nice to have a day without rain reminds me of the coast..

Yes I Know I am in an area that has roads that are no motorized entry and I don't take my quad off this one road that runs through this area that is open year around I park the quad lock it up
on the passable open year round road look back at my videos on this thread I am saying just getting back to my quad..

There are lots as idiots that do run there quads where the posted signs are I would love to see them one day I would video record them if I had the chance.

It really steams me when I see quad tracks and truck tracks in the mud in these road closure and I am busting my ass off putting the miles on with the legs ,,If you read my thread in open chat
regarding OIL left in the bush you will read that that I don't break the LAW ..

I did find the matching side to that 5 point I found last week I got lucky found the matching shed 300 yards up hill where the bull had bedded in the thick timber it was a good find..

I am sadden to say this my shed hunting year 2014 came to a close after yesterdays final shed hunt I found the matching side of the other elk antler from last week my total for elk and deer sheds were around 60 with 5 matching sets of fresh elk sheds and one old matching set of elk sheds now its time to start getting the trail cams out will start a new trail cam thread (hunter 1947 trail cam pictures 2014)

Just want to tank all you members for putting up with me on my 2014 shed hunt there was ups and downs and at times I wanted to cry from hurt no bull I am kind of happy it came to an end

meany people really don't know the hurt and pain sweat on the many miles it took me to accomplish my goal in the sort 4 years living here in the EK and that is getting the elk sheds to the ceiling

in my home ,,guess I have to start a new pill in a different place in 2015 anyways thanks to all for coming along with me and all the best of luck to you ladies and men on your hunting season this year :) :)..
