Here is an old picture of me back in the days this mule deer I shot near Princeton up the wip saw was a small 4x4 mule buck notice how big that movie camera in front of me was back then....

No that deer is a small one I got from the Princeton area was just a meat buck here is the top set of antlers I got from this area the net was 177,5/8..

Solo hunt back in 1974 hiked up a mountain 4k stayed under a tarp on top of a mountain got up early walked about 5k from my spike camp saw a few does as for a few smaller bucks ended the day with nothing.

Sleeping that night was -6 was cold that night up the next morning started snowing there was 3 inches of the white stuff on the ground I had had enough of it after two days started back down the mountain and I saw this guy..

This buck was out at about 400 yards I had to close the distance to around 300 yard back then no range finder I guessed that he was around the 300 yard mark I got down on the ground got a good rest the land elevation was almost level little down hill.

I put my 3x9 Leupold cross hairs on his shoulder not behind I did this because I wanted him to drop in the spot where he stood I did not want this buck to get away from me I squeezed the trigger on my 7mm mag he jumped up in the air took off on a run he went about 20 yard and piled up.

I had to make two trips to get this back out he was around the 280 mark live weight I deboned the meat off the bones at the end of the day I was some tired my age back then was 27 years old back then was a tough as nails back then never took any pictures did not take a camera on this trip wish I did..
