Wayne, without a doubt, every picture I've seen of your yearly camp setups impresses me. It's obvious that you're meticulous in insuring your 'home away from home' is as comfortable as can be, and that anyone visiting will be comfortable as well. Wish you many more, and Merry Christmas to you and Val.

Great looking camp Wayne. How long do you usually hunt for each season?

Dave this post of mine is a little off my thread..

Dave I used to set up my hunting camp in June then pull camp latter part of Nov don't do this anymore because of the rules on staying for 14 days its called squatting so I use my camper early part of the summer months on into the GOS doing this its easy to move if the forestry come in and ask me to move LOL..

It boils me to no end that they ask me to pack up camp and move ,,that's what the law is now so I have ways on how to get around there law ,,i could go on for ever about all don't want to go there ,,Yes F**K them F**K them all they can go stick it up there A** hole as for the government ..

The one thing that I don't understand is where my camp is I am not near a any lake or staying in a camp site my camp was in a remote area there are tons off places for other hunters to camp,

I know of one camp that is set up about 25k from where my camp is and they have a frame set up with black plastic on the sides they put a roof on it every year as for a door then take the roof door off after elk season has ended they even built a very nice out house...

They have done this for years they are still there every year and the camp is still standing there its called squatting the forestry has said nothing about them about taking it down and moving on and no I will not complain to the forestry I am not that kind of person ,,good for these hunters if they can get away with it..

Sorry members I don't want to put up any pictures of my new location I am in a more remote area then the camp picture that I posted at the beginning of my thread..

This is the way I set up my camp for early season in order to move makes for easy exit if I am asked to leave..

Wayne. What about getting a free miners license? Possibly stake a claim there?

Gotta be some way to be able to stay there for longer, can't apply for a permit?

Anyways, nice camp set-ups!

I take out things that are important ,Quad ,bows ,rifles cameras ,video cameras ,coolers ,wallet and a few other things I can't do anything about the stuff I leave in there when I head out for a few days a few trail cams set up in hiding places helps as well if anything happened to my camp might not be right at my camp but in other places that I can review on my trail cam.

As for showers I have a tarp I put up around three trees a 3/4 section of plywood to stand on a shelf up about 7 feet I use them black plastic bags you can by with a shower valve and hose at the bottom of the bag I will fill the black plastic bag with warm water then use it for a quick wash down ,,I open the valve to wet myself down then lather my self then empty the remaining bag of warm water to wash all the soap off works great

Very, very well setup!! And Wheel Chair assessable!!! Now, I was just think'in, why couldn't a guy set up a camp like that in the corner of his back yard during the off season? Wouldn't it be great to head'r out to the wall tent, lite a roar'in big fire, and have a few drinks well sitting around the Olde Wood Stove with a few friends, just to get away from all the Bull Shi* of every day life? I could set a camp up here, just tell the Wife, "It's for the Grand Kids, not me"!!! You got's me a think'in H-47!!! It'd be kinda wild to spend the odd night in the wall tent, minus 25, wind justa howl'in outside, wood stove red hot!!! What more could a guy ask for???

I have been told that a person that has been told to leave the place there have stayed for the 14 days that they have to leave the area you just can't move across the road not sure on this maybe others can confirm this ???.

I lived or "squatted" at Duncan Lake in the summer time, they came to bug me after I had been there three weeks, I talked to the guy and asked him how I could get around it as I was homeless at the time, he said pack up for a day, he would note that I was gone, and the 14 days would start over...so I did that, inconvenient and stupid to say the least...no one else wanted the spot, so I don't know why they cared...

Wayne.

Just doing some studying for you on long term camping. Is your campsite in a Park or simply crown land? Who comes and tells you to move (CO, Parks, etc.)?

Drillbit
12-22-2013, 08:42 AM
Without asking too many questions I found this:

www.bclaws.ca/Recon/document/ID/freeside/180_90_01‎
Maximum length of stay
39 (1) A person may not camp in a park, conservancy or recreation area for more than 14 days except
(a) as authorized by a park officer, or
(b) in a designated long-stay campsite.
(2) Except as authorized by a park officer, a person who owns a vessel or is responsible for a vessel must not allow that vessel to remain overnight in a park, conservancy or recreation area for more than 14 days in a calendar year.
[am. B.C. Regs. 215/2006, Sch. s. 8; 141/2009s, s. 1 (h) and 7.]

You could try to get authorization from a park officer?
You could try to get your campsite designated as a long term campsite?

All I can find so far haven't looked at the Mining route yet.

These are my thoughts as well why would any one care about wanting the spot I had camped in for almost 50 years ,,only thoughts I have is that there are some very jellos people out there in this world and they try to ruin it for others..

I stopped into my old camp over 12 times this year during the hunting season and only found that it was occupied one time I asked these hunters if they had every wanted to camp at this spot before all three said no and they did not know this spot was here..

Fantastic camps!

hunter1947,

Whilst I do not have a Wall Tent, I did always think I'd go with an internal frame over using the style you have taken to in fine form here in these images... Until I saw what you've done with it! That is very fine work and a fantastic camp. It's very nice. Obviously, the classic/original approach works just as well after the advent of internal frames as it did in the beginning.

Rackem, that is a lovely cat you had out with you.

These maximum stay laws are in place in Alberta likewise. I am sure they are nothing but a way to deter people from taking up residence in the wilderness and hence removing themsleves from the slave away, work a day world. The governemnt loves to see the debtholders, banks and their own tax-fueled coffers swell with wealth...

Also they may well be concerned about people developing permanent structures and otherwise altering the landscape and environs via long-term stay. Humans can have quite the impact on an area, even with the best of intentions and with making honest efforts to avoid disturbing the land.

We have done fly in trips for up to 21 days. We use frames that have been up for years. A few years back forestry flew in , when they had some money, and told us to tear it down when we left. Our response was "Someone else built it years ago. You go ahead and tear it down when we leave". It's still there :-D
