Helps your ego! :) Lets see a pic!

If you choose to shoot drakes, good on yah! There is zero scientific data to prove that it helps anything as far as populations. Early in the season our thought process is to get in and out of the field as quickly as possible to allow the field to rest and not to educate the birds. This allows us to hunt the same birds in the same field sometimes up to 10 times, So early on if it flies it dies.. As the season progresses and the freezer starts to get full, we tend to be more choosey.

However there are a few factors to consider.
1. Dead hens do not lay eggs. That is a fact.
2. all drake pictures look way cooler!

We shot all drakes last Thursday, and there were some hens that were just ASKING for it, but we stayed focused! lol

Personal choice, no science to support the old beliefs as Lorne said.

Not picky at all ! Actually I prefer hen mallards to drakes I've found them to be fatter overall!! I said fatter, not larger!
When it comes to geese, I only shoot Ganders??? Personal preference!---Cheers---Field Marshal.

It probably all balances out then Tony cuz on Geese, I only shoot the gander's widows. On a good day sometimes it's fun to only shoot drakes but believe me you cant tell the difference once they come out of the oven.
