Seems like HBC has got a bunch of closet whitetail hunters that are outing themselves.

Don't worry , you'll feel better now that it's out in the open. "My name is _ _ _ _ _ and I like to hunt whitetails."

Maybe post your whitetail pics here to inspire others who haven't yet gained the courage to come clean and start the healing.

Shit. I love hunting mulies. But I actually bought a whitetail tag at the start of the season, with the amount of whiteys appearing around Mr. Rancher's place. Didn't make it out there this year... but the itch is growing.

I hate whitetails.
everything about them.
their racks aren't as nice as a big, even 4pt muley rack.
they are teeny, tiny.
they don't have a big white ass that helps give away a muley's position.
sure they have a huge white flag, but if you're seein' that, then it's way too late.
and the shitty deer isn't going to stop and turn broadside for you after running a few feet either.
and they won't let you follow their tracks and see them just up a ways.

I hate 'em.
they are way too skittish, like a big, compacted bundle of nerves just waiting for a human to come by and release it.
they run like a horse, they might as well be a farm animal.

only thing about 'em is that they do taste better.
that said, I've dedicated my whole damn season this year to chasin' a damn whitetail.
I've only gotten out a couple times for a mule, and then it was only because it was a couple free hours in the later part of a day and that whitey is a ways away.
I still haven't put in an actual full day's hunt for a muley yet this year.
I've seen three really great whitetails this year.
that's the only thing that's got me chasin' them.
I've only seen 3 mulies ever that rivaled these guys.
I just really wanted to finally get one of them in my scope, so that I could end this stupid whitey chasin'.

Your first mistake is 'chasin" whitetails ..... you have to go to where they are going ....not where they have been .

Sneaky Whitetails... the last one I shot was back in Alberta.. a small buck running with 4 Mule deer does. Kept his head down really low, did not flag... at first glance you would think it was 5 does...

I think if more BC hunters took the time to learn how to hunt WT there would be less of the kill the rat deer they are hurting mulie mentality.

Defiantly a different style of hunt and can be a blast especially calling during the rut.

I am going again this year. Three times now, nothing to show for, but I do see action every single year. Hopefully this is the year. By the way, it is my favourite hunt year after year. Lots of fun and camaraderie.

The "real" deer deserves more respect. Those GMO deer with the big ears are way too easy.

I think if more BC hunters took the time to learn how to hunt WT there would be less of the kill the rat deer they are hurting mulie mentality.

The critical part with these sorts of threads is to differentiate between what's good for wildlife and what hunters want/think. Reducing wt deer to aid mule deer is not a mentality - it's a sound wildlife management strategy.

I hunt wts because they're open after mule deer and they taste better. My favorite kind of hunting is above treeline - wt's are not 'at the top of the list', they are opportunistic. If we managed species like elk for OSY I'd probably shoot one of them, but my interest level in shooting a 6 pts bull elk for 'freezer meat' is way below a wt doe or yearling buck and I'm not packing one out to miss a few days of sheep hunting.

I would support managing wts at lower densities to reduce predator loading and decrease apparent competition with mule deer. I also support managing wts at higher harvest rates because the species is far more resilient, productive and cryptic than mule deer - wts have been under-utilized across BC for decades. Most of the reason for that is because we've managed wt deer like mule deer - the two species couldn't be farther apart. What would cause significant population declines for mule deer will not even put a dent in wts.

WTs will continue to expand across BC due to fire supression and anthropogenic disturbance and it will negatively affect mule deer as that happens. There is a pile of science to support all of that, even some right out of BC.

Long story short, I would rather see hunter harvest and pressure focused on wts than mule deer because we're screwing mule deer habitat up by the day and white-tails can handle the pressure.

I'm one of them! ..... While having hunted them sporadically in the past, I've been chasing whitetailed deer more seriously the last 3 years!! I just never posted anything about those 'lowly' white-tails on here. Who knew they would be so addicting and fun to hunt!

I agree WT can take more pressure than mule deer. Most areas I see no issue with the new WT regs some areas I don't agree but that is just my opinion.

Honestly I would like to see the mule deer harvest limited a little but that is just my opinion

I've taken quite a few small Whities, and I've seen some real Gagger White Tail Bucks, but with them, it's like trying to shoot a Jack Rabbit in heavy brush, with a 22!!! Some day, I hope!!!

Respect! They're like rats :). People complain on here about wolves, we should be doing all we can to kill as many of these vermin in mule deer strongholds as possible! Oh crap, I know, I know, we love them all....

By the way, I think mule deer taste better than BC whitetails (generally depending on agricultural fields, etc.)

I do like hunting and eating them though...

My favorite week of the year is Whitetail hunting with my Dad. Lots of work, the way we hunt them, but tough to beat!

Here's a view of the other end of the garage wall. I have another row to put too, but can't decide if I should do it above those ones, or put last years wolf rug there, by the black one.....

We live all over and come together for a family hunt every year. Can't tell you where though! lol

My best scored 177, but it is far from the biggest in the crew.

The best thing about putting them all on the wall is that everyday when I get in and out of my truck I get to remember the fun we had those days chasing big bucks.
Can go back on the whole day just by looking at one.

Fun, Family and Comraderie, that's what Whitetail hunting is all about for me. Can't wait till my boys are big enought to come!

Glad you guys enjoyed them too, first time posting a picture on here, might start posting a few more now!
