Decent Lower Mainland Blacktail

Well there is no epic story with this deer. I spent the entire morning hiking in the snow for little sign and decided to drop lower in elevation. I was heading to a trailhead on the quad with the intent of hiking into another area. Before arriving, I noticed this guy staring at me from 20 yards in the timber. Off the quad and one shot in the neck before he attempted to make his exit. Definitely not the most rewarding way to take a deer in my opinion but I certainly wasn't going to pass up the opportunity.

Nothing wrong with that buck! Nice bases and a little character to boot! Your getting a good collection of cool bucks! I haven't seen a mature BT since the beginning of the month.. Congrats!

Yes ... you are right , this is a KRANKER class buck and a very fortunate opportunity. I think by the drop tine and the bases on this buck , also the general size and aging on his face this is a very good example of a buck that has probably been reverting for a year if not 2.

Im certain this buck is at least 6 or 7 years old ... he has lived a very good life and it was definitely time to take him. He is at least one year past his prime

Look at the bases and body on that buck ! That BT is a tank ! Great job ! ... don't down play this hammer buck !

Old, real big and heavy tines, it'd look incredible on the wall! Oh, I'm talking about the Buck, not you, sorry! And, like so many guys this year, the pictures are incredible too! That's a stomper buck. Congrats. Nice character on that old boy. I got my biggest bt driving as well. They don't make for great stories but they still look great on the wall. Way to go.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah my guess was he was on the downhill slide. Definitely a large body on him, made for a challenge to get him up on the quad when your solo.
