just got back from my trip in reg 3 last week. took 2 and a half weeks off for our trip as this is the only chance iv had to go hunting this year due to working in northern alberta.. anyways it was well worth it. ended up tagging out in 8 days. 7 bucks down in camp in the last 4 days of the trip and the deer weren't even rutting yet. super late up there this year. this is my second muley ever and it was well worth every hike in the -20. il give ya the short version of how it went down. my buddy picked me up after a brutal hike down a mountain that almost resulted in me spending the night in the bush. anyways we head down the hill a ways to where he had just seen some does. we park the truck and get out to glass all the draws, mountain sides, sage fields and whatnot. we spent about an hour and a half glassing and every time I threw up the binos there were does. every draw, every cut, every field. probly saw 40 different does. keep in mind its nov 24th and the bucks aren't even rutting yet.. my buddy turns around and says "dude your gonna shoot your buck down here". we glass a bit more then he says lets head down a little more and take a look down lower. u turn and decide to glass the hillside once more and as soon as I throw up my new leupold 12x50s I see him standing there broadside. "Jordan, don't move. big buck lookin right at us" he slowly pivots and puts up his binos. "is he a 4 point" Jordan says. " oh yeah hes a 4" I go for my range finder as hes way across a canyon. range rinder isn't working... I take the battery out and cant get it back together... finaly I jam the battery in with my finger and hold it there and range the buck at just under 500 yards. I pull the bipod down on my rifle and get on my stomach. Jordan says "are you gonna shoot??" "yep.. just watch him" I put the cross hairs a foot over his back and let the 300 mag bark. "you missed he didn't move" ..... BOOM... "You wacked him!!!" he runs up the hill about 20 yrds and falls back down into a sage bush. this is when I became unglued. I look up at my buddy and he does "you just killed a monster buck".. I didn't think he was that big but I knew it was gonna be dark in about 45 min and we had to get to the other side of this canyon to get at him. turns out the only way to get across is go all the way to the end of the draw to a small cattle trail takes us down and up the other side. all other parts are almost vertical and imposible to get down much less drag a buck through. we get up the other side and he spots the bucks back legs. I look at it and say man that's a small ass I don't think hes that big. until I pulled his head out of the bush and realized he just had a small body ;) lets see if I can get these pics to work..file:///C:/Users/Barter/Pictures/lillooet%202013/20131124_161946_LLS.jpg

sounds awesome.
pics will be taken care of eventually.
this is why I'm not always sold on a big track.
a huge buck can have a smaller rack and vice-versa.
congrats on your buck.

You cant link the picture from your hard drive...you need to first upload it to a photo storage website (eg. photobucket - free) and link from there.
Good luck

yea he was definitely a younger buck. good genetics in this area and most of the racks look like this. shallow forks but crazy mass and usualy lots of points. il post pics of some of the other bucks that went down when I get a minute. happy to say I won the big buck competition this year though ;)
