Went for the antlerless elk hunt this weekend with a friend. We saw some but were unable to get a shot. I could have shot a real nice 4x4 bull but he still had antlers. I was laying on the ground ready to take a longggggg shot on a cow if she was going to clear tree line but she turned in. Just then I heard a crash to my right when the bull came out and saw me laying on the ground prone for a possible shot. He kept coming right at me to check and see what I was. When he got to 20 ft I decided that getting stopmed into the snow by a bull elk wasn't going to be any fun so I sat up and that scared him off about 20 yards. He continued to mill around me untill I reached for my camera. I guess he was a little camera shy with that spindley rack of his.

Excellent pics are those taken in the 7-11,7-12 area ?

Don't worry I know your not going to give up any secrets.

I talked to Norm & Heather yesterday and the deal is toast.

Want to turn in some bottles and try and buy the place ?

No we were up in the Chetwynd area. As for the bottles umm yup just let me explain to the wife why I am going to be drinking so much in the next while. LOL. I am sorry to hear that the deal fell through for them but I am kinda glad to hear that at the same time as I can't imagine anyone else there. It sure gets me to thinking though. My wife is on me for wanting to buy another motorbike imagine if I came home and told I bought that. I think it would be coyote sex for a few years. You know sit by the hole and howl. LOL.

Lots of bare patches of ground. I heard reports of snow 3' deep up there. ?? doesn't look too tough on the critters after all. Just another winter.

Yeah it's around there I haven't mesured but it's amazing to see prints on the ground and walk in there and just sink.

In places were the snow is in the sun the snow is soft and you sink up to your knees or more. On the south facing slopes there are bare patches everywhere. It is very deceiving because you are walking on hard pack and then step off the trail into the bush to follow up and sink to your knees. Then it is time to decide follow up or move on. Of course I left the snow shoes at the truck DOH.
