.410 Legal on ducks and geese?

I was reading the the hunting regs and was surprised that ducks and geese can be legally hunted with a .410. I usually use this calibre for smaller upland birds but would be curious to know whether any other members hunting larger birds with a .410? I suspect you would have to be a good shot and under 25 yards.

You shouldn't use a .410 for migratory birds, you need a 20 gauge or bigger or you'll be fined
Prolly about 200 bucks or more.
Jel .. use a 20 gauge or bigger b4 you pull the trigger on a duck or goose or you'll be ah roosted.

remember , non - toxic shot is mandatory. Maybe load some bismuth to be legal.

A .410 shoots as far as a 12 gauge... it just shoots a smaller pattern and a shorter shot column... a .410 is an experts gun and usually a poor choice for beginners to learn with.

you CAN'T hunt migratory game birds with a crossbow.

I believe the regs are clear that you can hunt all small game and migratory birds with any shotgun except the bearded turkey and coyote (20 gauge). Thank you for the advice on type and size of shot in this calibre, I had not considered the steel shot issue and could have been in trouble.
